Any tips on creating a Rube Goldberg?

For my over-the-vacation project I am required to create a Rube Goldberg corrosponding to a chosen point of history (I chose World War II, the Conflict in Asia). i just want to know if there is anyone who has done this or a similar project and if you have any tips, or even better, SITES that can help me in the building process.

And does anyone have any good suggestions for World War II reading or sites?I need some informational yet ';easy'; reads or sites.Any tips on creating a Rube Goldberg?
unfortunately Rude Goldbergs are not an easy project. The better it gets, the harder it gets. I don't know if you've done one before or not, but for the creation of the device itself. Time. Thats all you need. Make one piece and make it work PERFECTLY then incorporate the next piece and so on and so forth. It will take FOREVER if its more then say 5 ';scenes';. If you get frustrated or mad, walk away. Do not do anything in haste, and test every thing so many times you can see it work with your eyes closed.

As far as the information for the devices, I would say go to a site like HistoryChannel.com and just get some cursory ideas, make a crude sketch of the Rude Goldberg and do any more information digging that you need. The cool thing about a Rude Goldberg Device is that people will be so taken back by all the moving parts and changing scenes and what not that they wont care if your information is just a little off. As long as it looks good, is atleast generally historically accurate (i.e. you can't put your American soldiers in clown suits), and works flawlessly all the way through, then you will get the grade you deserve for it. Obviously the more you put into it the more your gonna get out of it. But with something like this, your gonna start off with a good grade that will only get better.
