I need help creating a 2nd grade history lesson?

I'm in my first semester of observation/student teaching and I'm supposed to teach my first lesson to my second grade class next week. My suggested topic was Texas history (6 flags over Texas). I'm also supposed to make the lesson fun. Any ideas on how or what to teach?





My idea was to do a lesson on Texas heroes, but I don't really know how to make this interesting or fun. I want to do some sort of review game after I teach the lesson, but I don't know how to make the actual learning part fun. Any ideas?I need help creating a 2nd grade history lesson?
I think doing some kind of skit would be fun. let the kids act out in small groups what they learned about one hero. have them journal fun facts while you are doing lessons. or at end of each have a free discussionn about what was learned so they can right it in journal.
