Why is my retainer brace creating holes in my top teeth?

Hey,


Before I had my retainer I had an operation to remove 4 teeth (2 top 2 bottom) and now my orthadontist provided me with a plastic retainer, for the first few months he told me to use a key to tighten it once a week. Then after that once a week, now not at all.


Before I had this brace my teeth on top were perfectly straight. Now they have massive gaps between them.


Can anybody please tell me if this is natural?


Please help me as this is affecting my appearance to members of my family and friends..

it sounds like you have an expander, and yes thats normal it happened to me an now i have braces and i have no space, so they will fix it.Why is my retainer brace creating holes in my top teeth?
Maybe it is on to hard.
