I'll be honest, most of the time i do my css on my pc in i.e knowing it will be out on any other pc. Then, i correct it so it looks good in i.e, firefox and chrome.

Finally, i use my mates office pc for final adjustments which makes it compatible everywhere. And when i check it with W3C it's always got errors. If i correct those errors, it goes out totally.

Look at this page for example. I just validated this page you're looking at now, it reports 206 errors and 1318 warnings.

I say if it looks good, leave it.
You gotta test your website on all popular browsers such as IE different versions, Firefox, Safari, Opera and Chrome to ensure all W3C rules are followed.
