Mmm. I don't think there's a word for it. It's like how the pharmaceutical companies sell sickness. It's profiting off of an invented problem, first convincing people that there's a problem, then convincing them that it's far more serious than it actually is, then convincing them they need your drug for it rather than turning to more basic treatments (e.g., diet change) first.
